Tennessee's Mercedes Russell and Texas A&M's Khaalia Hillsman will enter Thursday night's showdown at Reed Arena coming off career-best efforts, but history shows their teammates will decide the outcome, not the senior centers who made the Southeastern Conference women's basketball coaches preseason team.

Texas A&M senior center Khaalia Hillsman was named the Southeastern Conference women’s basketball player of the week. She scored a career-high 31 points in an 82-73 victory at Auburn and 20 points in a 74-70 victory over Kentucky.

The Texas A&M women’s basketball team is ranked a season-high 17th by the Associated Press. The Aggies (13-4) after last Sunday’s 61-59 loss at then fourth-ranked South Carolina bounced back to defeat Kentucky on Thursday and Auburn on Sunday. A&M’s previous highest ranking was 18th on Nov. 27 after a 4-1 start. The Aggies will play sixth-ranked Tennessee (15-0) at 6 p.m. Thursday at Reed Arena.

AUBURN, Ala. – Texas A&M senior center Khaalia Hillsman scored a career-high 31 points to lead the 19th-ranked Aggie women’s basketball team to an 82-73 victory over the Auburn Tigers on Sunday at Auburn Arena before 1,980 fans.

The 22nd-ranked Texas A&M women's basketball team will open Southeastern Conference play Sunday against defending national champion South Carolina on the road, but the Aggies' attention is on improving at home in their final tuneup for league play.

LAS VEGAS -- The 10th-ranked Oregon women's basketball team carved up 19th-ranked Texas A&M for the second time this season as guards Sabrina Ionescu and Maite Cazorla combined for 51 points in an 84-62 victory at the Duel in the Desert on Thursday at the Cox Pavilion.

Highly touted freshman point guard Chennedy Carter had 15 points and five assists to help the 20th-ranked Texas A&M women's basketball team to a season-opening 83-65 victory over the Houston Cougars, but it was when she was on the bench that she showed her true worth.
