Texas A&M had 65 student-athletes named to the Southeastern Conference’s 2017-18 winter academic honor roll, including men’s basketball senior forward Tonny Trocha-Morelos and women’s basketball junior guard Danni Williams, who helped their respective teams to Sweet 16 appearances in the NCAA basketball tournaments.

Texas A&M senior diver Tyler Henschel made the All-Southeastern Conference first team, while senior swimmers Brock Bonetti and Mauro Castillo, junior swimmer Angel Martinez, junior diver Sam Thornton and sophomore swimmer Adam Koster made the second team, the SEC announced Thursday.

Texas A&M's Sidney Pickrem sat on the bench and screamed out her own cheer twice to celebrate Aggie senior diver Tyler Henschel's victory in the men's 3-meter diving. She then hit the pool to anchor the women's 800-yard freestyle relay team to victory, capping an eventful first day for the Aggies at the Southeastern Conference Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday at the A&M Student Recreation Center Natatorium.

Texas A&M senior diver Tyler Henschel earned a roster spot on Canada’s 2018 Commonweath Games by winning the platform dive at the 2018 Canadian Winter Senior Nationals. Henschel, from Sherwood Park, Alberta, won his second straight Winter Nationals title with a score of 458.30 points. The 2018 Commonwealth Games will be contested April 4-15 in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Texas A&M’s Jing Quah was named the Southeastern Conference freshman of the week in women’s swimming. She won the 100- and 200-yard butterfly against Missiouri and helped the Aggies to relay victories in the 200-medley relay and 200-freestyle relay.

Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving coach Steve Bultman announced the Aggies’ signing class of six high school standouts and one transfer, which was rated the No. 6 class in the nation by SwimSwam.com.

Texas A&M swimmer Lisa Bratton set the tone for the final night of the Art Adamson Invitational early on when she slipped past Stanford’s Janet Hu in the final 25 meters of the 200 backstroke, giving the Aggie women top points in the first final of the evening.
