KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Texas A&M freshman Iulia Ivascu won the final singles match to send the Aggie women’s tennis team to a 4-3 win over 24th-ranked Kentucky in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament Thursday at Barksdale Tennis Stadium.

Texas A&M will play Kentucky in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament at 3 p.m. Thursday at the University of Tennessee’s Barksdale Stadium. A&M (15-9, 5-8) tied LSU (14-9, 5-8) for ninth place in the conference and was the ninth seed for the tournament via its regular-season victory over LSU. Kentucky (14-9, 6-7) tied Mississippi State (15-9, 6-7) for seventh place with 24th-ranked Kentucky seeded eighth having lost to MSU during the regular season.

Texas A&M senior Arthur Rinderknech was named the Southeastern Conference men’s tennis player of the week after picking up a pair of ranked singles victories. The 10th-ranked Rinderkneck beat 19th-ranked Giovanni Oradini of Mississippi State and 86th-ranked De Vincentis of Auburn. It was the third time season Rinderkneck grabbed the honor and fourth team for his career.

Texas A&M’s Juan Carlos Aguilar was named the Southeastern Conference freshman of the week in men’s tennis with teammate Jordi Arconada earning the co-player of the week award alongside Kentucky’s Ryo Matsumura.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Texas A&M women’s tennis team fell behind early and couldn’t complete a comeback attempt, falling to Kentucky 4-1 on Saturday in Southeastern Conference action indoors at the Boone Tennis Complex.

The fifth-ranked Texas A&M men’s tennis team remained undefeated in the Southeastern Conference with a 6-1 victory over No. 9 Florida on Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

Texas A&M senior Macarena Olivares was named the Southeastern Conference’s women’s tennis player of the week after defeating Ole Miss’ 90th-ranked Sabina Machalova 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 2 singles Sunday. Olivares and partner Dorthea Faa-Hviding also clinched the doubles point in the Ole Miss match. 

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The No. 6 Texas A&M men’s tennis team stayed undefeated in Southeastern Conference play with a 5-2 victory over No. 25 Tennessee on Friday.

The sixth-ranked Texas A&M men’s tennis team (10-3) will play 18th-ranked Notre Dame (10-6) at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Tennis Center in a nonconference match. General admission is free.
