The company that will operate a new hotel and conference center on the Texas A&M campus, is holding a student job fair this week.
The event started Monday and will be in Room 2401 of the Memorial Student Center from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Benchmark Hospitality is looking to fill a variety of positions, including desk agents, security officers, bartenders, reservation agents and restaurant workers. Training for most positions will start around Aug. 1, with the facility opening to customers on Aug. 27.
Greg Stafford, the general manager of the facility, said the company was looking to hire around 120 students for the positions.
At the building’s dedication ceremony in June, Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp called the facility a “crown jewel.”
The eight-story, 250,000-square-foot hotel and conference center will feature a full-service restaurant and bar, 1,000 square feet of retail space, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, an outdoor event area, a 650-seat ballroom and more than 28,000 square feet of conference and meeting space, along with 250 guest rooms, including 12 suites.
The facility, across the street from Kyle Field, was officially named the Doug Pitcock ‘49 Hotel and Conference Center in February in recognition of the Aggie philanthropist for his contributions to the university.
Job applicants are asked to bring a resume, and walk-ins are welcome.
