John Scheschuk was born with burnt orange in his blood. The Houston native's parents are both Texas graduates. His father James played baseball for the Horns.

But Texas didn't show him much attention before his senior season at Dobie High School. And Scheschuk wanted to get the recruiting process over with early.

"Of the firm offers I had on the table, A&M was far and away the best fit for me," he said. "I think A&M sold itself. Olsen Field, the fans, the program overall was so attractive to me. It was a no brainer."
