SURREY, British Columbia — Former Texas A&M All-American Tori Vidales hit .500 with seven RBIs to help Mexico qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics by finishing in the top two spots at the WBSC Softball Americas Qualification Event.

Vidales had a .524 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage in the tournament, which Mexico won to earn its first bid to the Olympics in softball. Canada took second to earn the event’s other qualifying spot.

Japan, the United States and Italy also are qualified for the 2020 Olympics. The final team in the six-team field will be determined at the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier on Sept. 24-28 in Shanghai, China.
