Gianna Cirella named honorary member of the Texas A&M women's soccer team

Even before she discovered Texas A&M, Gianna Cirella, left, had a connection with Aggieland, wearing number 12 on her soccer jersey. The Rhode Island teen would have graduated from high school this spring.

Honorary member: Texas A&M soccer coach G Guerrieri named Gianna Cirella an honorary member of the A&M soccer team after the high school soccer player and Aggie fan died after a sudden 20-day battle with sepsis.

Basketball trip: The A&M men’s basketball team will take a seven-day trip to Costa Rica on Aug. 4-10, playing three exhibition games against national all-star teams in the capital of San Jose.

Swim tournament: Former A&M swimmer Claire Rasmus earned her second gold medal of the meet with Team USA’s 4 x 200-meter freestyle relay at the 2019 World University Games. Former A&M swimmer Jonathan Tybur advanced to the final in the 200-meter breaststroke, where he finished seventh.
