Edwin Jackson Kyle

Feb. 9, 1945: President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Edwin Jackson Kyle, class of 1899 and namesake for Kyle Field, ambassador to Guatemala. Kyle's background in education and agriculture was such an asset that the Central American country awarded him the Order of the Quetzal in 1949, Guatemala's equivalent to the United States' Presidential Medal of Freedom.
