Bonfire benefit concert

Feb. 6, 2000: Texas A&M graduates Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen teamed up for the Bonfire Benefit Concert at Reed Arena. The singer-songwriters performed together and traded songs, after an opening set by Aggies Roger Creager, Max Stalling and Kyle Hutton. Proceeds went to the Bonfire Relief Fund, to help families of the victims of the November 1999 Bonfire collapse.

Feb. 6, 1931: Emmy Award winner and former A&M student Elmore "Rip" Torn, class of 1952, was born. He performed in movies (Men in Black, Dodgeball) and on stage, winning numerous awards. He won an Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series in 1996 for his role as Arthur on the HBO series The Larry Sanders Show. He died July 9, 2019.
