Sept. 7, 2012: Aggies Robert Earl Keen, Rick Trevino and Granger Smith performed at First Yell at Kyle Field. The next day, the Aggie football team kicked off its inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference against Florida.
Sept. 7, 2003: Classes began at Texas A&M's branch campus in Qatar. The first class had 29 students — 24 were Qatari.
The campus offers an identical curriculum to that of the main campus in College Station. The courses are taught in English and in a coeducational setting.
Sept. 7, 2017: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp would lead the effort to rebuild communities affected by Hurricane Harvey. "We want to make sure every county, city and school district will get everything their citizens deserve and do it as efficiently as possible," Sharp said in a press conference. "We are aware this money is coming from taxpayers from around the country. We will treat this money as if it were our own."
