June 8, 1976: Sonny Parker became the first Aggie to be a first-round NBA draft pick. He was selected 17th by the Golden State Warriors in 1976. Parker played six seasons with Golden State, netting more than 4,400 points.

He is the namesake for "Most Improved Player" award at A&M's annual basketball banquet.

Parker's son, Jabari, starred at Duke and was drafted No. 2 overall in 2014.
