The team began the season with defeats to Tulsa and Howard Payne. In the third game, the team lost fullback Buck Buckner with a broken leg. Still the Aggies prevailed over Southwestern, 32-0, for the season's first win. Running back Thomas "Puny" Wilson scored in A&M's 43-0 defeat of LSU. And the team moved back to .500 with a 19-6 win over Ouachita College. The Aggies lost to Baylor, the eventual SWC champs, 13-7. The team split its next two games against Rice and SMU and went into the annual Texas clash at 4-4. E. King Gill scored a touchdown and had a 25-yard reception that set up another score. A&M defeated the Longhorns, 14-7, on Turkey Day. Lee Ronntree of The Eagle called it "probably the greatest game of football ever staged in Texas." The Aggies finished the year at 5-4 and tied for third in the SWC.
