After not fielding a team in 1895, the college tried again. Dudley Perkins, the team's fullback who also coached the team in its inaugural 1894 season, handed the reins over to volunteer coaches A.M. Soule and H.W. South. The team tied Galveston Ball to begin the season, and got the program's first win over a college in beating Austin College, 22-4. In the season finale, A&M blew out Houston High School. The team finished 2-0-1.
