A Southern-rock-and-country concert Friday night joins the many local efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Whiskey Myers, no strangers to the area, tweeted this on Thursday.

Opening act The Drugstore Gypsies started in Houston, and recently posted this to Facebook: "As many of you know we are an Austin based band. But Houston is our HOME! The place where we made our start. The place where we've built our biggest network. A city full of the places and people we love. And to see the devastation unfold from whatever living room we sit in is just that, devastating. Our hearts, thoughts, condolences, regards, and prayers go out heavy to everyone who has been affected by Hurricane Harvey."

The band released a self-titled album in March, and made Rolling Stone's "10 New Country Artists You Need to Know" list in May.

Details: Tonight at Hurricane Harry's, 313 College Ave. Doors at 9 p.m. $10. harrys.bcsclubs.com/events/.
